1972 Classic Newport Kite Sailboat (12′ Dinghy) Colorado Springs

Imagine owning a one-of-a-kind American classic that’s a blast to sail.

With its Sitka Spruce wooden mast / boom and fiberglass hull, the Kite’s a head-turner. Old meets new. Get ready for the comments you’ll get whenever you’re out sailing it. “What a beauty. I love your sailboat!”

Quick to rig & launch and easy to sail, the Kite’s an unsinkable Finn-like catboat that’s great for both new and seasoned sailors.

At one point it was such a popular class that there was a regatta in Newport called “The Flight of the Kites” with over 100 boats participating.

The flexibility of the spruce mast makes the Kite forgiving and fast. The sail is self-flattening with minimal traveler and downhaul / outhaul adjustments. It’s simply a lot of fun to sail.

Both boat and trailer are in great shape.

Feel the pride from sailing an American classic!

11’ 7” long
78 sq. ft. of sail
5’ beam
3.5’ draft
205 lbs.
