Club Emails – Who Sends What to Whom
Here’s a quick explainer on the club’s google groups. The Googlemaster sends
this out annually for new members and as a reminder to all members
and administers the following google groups for the club:
csyc-talk This group is for inter-member communication about sailing
topics. It consists of current club members. Anyone in the group may post to
it. Please don’t discuss active protests from CSYC races in this group.
csyc-board This group is for intra-Board communication. It consists only of
current officers, and past Commodores still active in the club. Anyone in the
group may post to it.
csyc-members This group is for official club-to-member communication. It
consists of current club members. Only current officers may post to it.
csyc-contacts This group is for official club-to-world communication. It
consists of current and past members, and anyone who’s ever expressed an
interest in the club. Only current officers may post to it.
csyc-dinghies This group is for communication within our dinghy sailing
program. It consists of current members participating in dinghy racing.
Anyone in the group may post to it.
To post to a group, send an email to <group-name>@googlegroups.com, e.g.
csyc-talk@googlegroups.com, from the address you provided when joining the
club. If that was a gmail address, you can also sign in to google and use the
web interface https://groups.google.com/.
Every month the groups are reviewed to contain the right people according to
the official membership reports form the club’s Treasurer. Every year at the
start of the Summer Series the groups are purged of previous members who
did not renew their membership.
