Hello CSYC members and associates; your board of directors held their regular monthly meeting on Monday. We discussed the current status of the state and county orders and also reported out on our conversations with Colorado Parks and Chatfield Marina. I am happy to report that the board, with input from a number of members, has decided it is acceptable for members to hold practice races. These will be informal races and will not be scored as official races for the spring season. These events are scheduled for May 13, 20, and 27. We understand many members may not be ready to sail or don’t have crew within their household, but a number of members do want to get on the water and sail.
PLEASE NOTE: it is up to each individual boat owner to decide whether to participate. Everyone should be following state and county “Safer at Home” orders. CSYC will not be enforcing rules on boat owners, but we expect all to be prudent and follow appropriate social distancing requirements and protect your own health as well as others.
The board will observe how these events go and make a decision on when formal racing can begin.
The board also is ready to begin the dinghy races on Saturday morning starting June 2nd. It is easier to maintain social distancing with dinghies and feel this activity can be conducted safely.
Thank you and stay safe.
