Come join us on selected Monday Nights Beer Can racing!
The purpose is to get sailboat owners who haven’t experienced racing and/or sailing close to other sailboats with a destination in mind or just want to practice with existing or new crew members. This is a casual event, just getting an idea of what it is like to go through the motions of sailboat racing. With a little luck – win the beer prize!
There are three options available:
- Sail your own boat with your own crew.
- Sail your own boat with experienced Sailor / Racer from CSYC.
- Come sail on one of the CSYC member boats.
We will meet on the dock, at the picnic table outside of the Seagulls Restaurant at 5:30 to go over the instructions for that night’s sail.
Sailing will be around the race marks and will last approximately one hour, followed by beverages and lively discussions at the picnic table. We will use the Race Committee boat, a starting line, and all the rules, but in a much more relaxed learning environment. Low key, but still fun!
Additional thoughts for CSYC Skippers:
There are multiple approaches a skipper could take to the Beer Can Mondays. One of which, as I’ve mentioned, is putting unaffiliated crew on boats. Another intent, and equally important, is to take the opportunity to practice crew coordination, tactics, and boat handling with your regular crew. Still another approach would be to test the waters about racing for the first time. All of these are equally valuable reasons to come out on every other Monday and sail. You are welcome, and encouraged, to use Beer Can Mondays to your best benefit.
Beer Can Race dates: May 8th, May 22nd, June 12th, June 26th, July 17th, July 31st, August 14th, and August 28th
Hope to see you there!
