Pursuit Race and Chili Cook-Off is Sunday September 19th

September 13, 2021 by Larry Moreland

The Pursuit Race will be held on Sunday September 19, 2021. A skippers’ meeting will be at noon at the Marina docks near the B Dock BBQ. The rules and start time for each class of boat will be covered.

The pursuit race is a two-hour race where the start time for each boat is adjusted for their PHRF handicap. The start time is based on a boat with a PHRF rating of 272 leaving at 1:00 pm and all other boats delayed by a time calculated using PHRF TOT for a two-hour race.

The race will start at 1:00 pm near the no-wake buoys in Roxborough Cove. Two no-wake buoys will be designated by the race committee boat as the start line. Each boat will start according to their adjusted start time.  The Race Committee Boat will assist racers with any questions about their start time.

The race course will be to marks 2, 3, 4, 2, 3, 4 … etc. Racers will continue around the race course.  The object of the race is to finish the race at the red-green buoys marking the entrance to the marina at 3 pm.  The race committee will monitor the race and make the decision when to stop the race track course and head to the finish line.

The Chili Cook-off will be from 3:30 pm to 6:00 pm in the Marina Restaurant.  All CSYC members, crew and family are invited.  Submit your own Chili for competition because of course will have “outstanding” prizes again.  You can leave your chili in the Marina restaurant while racing.  There is no charge but you can bring bring sides for eating (i.e. cornbread, chips, salsa, desserts, etc.).

Here are the  SI’s and adjusted start times:
