It’s only a few short months until we’ll be able to get on the water again. Our dinghy racing will be on Tuesday afternoon in Roxborough Cove. This year we will have both a Spring season and a Summer season. Spring Season will run May 25 through June 29 and the Summer season will run from July 13 until August 31. The first race will start at 6:00pm and all boats should be back to the beach or docks by 7:45pm to derig and store the boats.
Spring season will start with a complimentary orientation at Roxborough Cove at 5:30 on May 18. The orientation will include training with Erica of Colorado Water Sports (CWS) on rigging, derigging and storing their Topaz dinghies. She will also teach how to right and get back on a Topaz after capsizing. Alan with Colorado Sail and Yacht Club (CSYC) will go over the rules of racing and some strategy.
If you don’t own your own dinghy, Colorado Watersports is again offering a great discount to our racers to rent a Topaz dinghy for only $25 per race night starting at 5 pm. Their regular rental rate is $50/2hours. Racers who want to get on the water early can pick up their boats starting at 4:00pm for an additional $10 paid to Colorado Watersports. Last year, sometimes there were more dinghy racers than available Topaz’s. To guarantee a Topaz, you need to prepay for each dinghy season – Spring 6 weeks – $150 and Summer 8 weeks – $200. In April, we will have the details on how to prepay for your Topaz.
